Literacy for Every Learner: Evidence-Based Adolescent Instruction & Dyslexia

Join us in Ames in on Thursday, September 24th for a workshop for all K-12 educators and district leadership presented by Dr. Darcie Kress & Wanda Steuri from the Iowa Department of Education.

The day will focus on:

Adolescent Literacy – Gain a deeper understanding of the evidence-based instructional strategies to use when teaching reading and writing to adolescents. The session will teach techniques for teaching and supporting decoding, reading comprehension, and writing.

Dyslexia: A Foundational Understanding – Develop a foundational understanding of dyslexia. Participants will be able to define dyslexia, understand the characteristics of dyslexia in children at different ages and stages of reading and writing development, and understand the impact dyslexia can have on learning, reading, spelling and writing.
