From Standards to Sensemaking:

Designing Coherent Science Learning

Join us in Ames on Tuesday, April 28th for a workshop for all K-12 science educators and district leadership presented by Christopher Like from the Iowa Department of Education. This workshop will address what meaningful alignment to Iowa’s new Academic Standards for Science looks like in practice. This session explores how to design coherent, phenomenon-driven instruction that supports sustained student sensemaking. Through classroom examples and practical strategies, participants will examine key instructional shifts and leave with tools to create connected learning experiences that help students actively construct and apply scientific understanding.
