While the legislature debates which test will become the new state assessment, we can take proactive action now to shift classroom practice to prepare for students for whatever new assessment is finally chosen.  In this workshop, districts will explore multiple documents and strategies related to implementation of new state tests that measure student achievement of the Iowa Standards.

• Understand the principles of curriculum, instruction and assessment alignment
• Identify accurate targets for instruction that are aligned to the standards and new state tests
• Understand potential question item types on a new test and how to provide practice for students on new question types
• Align classroom practice with appropriate DOK (Depth of Knowledge) levels.
